2013 in review !!!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for my blog. I only intend to improve the overall statistics in 2014.

God Bless You all and thanks for taking the time to stop by and read through my blog.

Here’s to an awesome year ahead in 2014.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 4,900 times in 2013. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 4 trips to carry that many people.

On the road again…Angel rides to the IBW Chai Pakoda meet up !

India Bike Week (IBW) is just around the corner. For those of you who feign ignorance, this is a all India motorbike festival that apparently celebrates the spirit of motorcycling. The last time it was a special Harley fest with all the other motorcyclists being left out. People had to park their loved ones (Yes, these kind usually value the love  of a motorcycle more) a good distance from the venue in the dust, while the Harley guys got a special parking lot inside the venue grounds. This time around, things have been promised to be different and this is something that some of the organizers have even written to the motorcycling fraternity about. Time shall tell !

So, a whole bunch of motorcyclists from Pune, Hondas, Kawasakis, Yamahas, KTMs, Harleys, Royal Enfields, Suzukis etc met up at the Phoenix mall in Pune situated on the Nagar road exit to head towards the venue of the motorcycle meet up. This was a tri-city run organized by pals of mine from Aurangabad and was meant to get riders from Pune, Ahmednagar and Aurangabad down to the Vithal Kamat hotel located on the Pune Nagar Highway. It was a IBW Chai-Pakoda run and hence all the riders were going to be treated to Chai and Pakoda. We decided to do an early breakfast at the Vohuman cafe since we figured that managing a good meal at the Kamat’s hotel would be difficult with 300 odd motorcyclists present. The 4 of us, 3 on bikes and 1 in a car (long story) then headed over to the meeting point in front of the Phoenix mall. Here are a few pictures of our bikes parked up and some more of all the riders who had gathered there.

Here is a VIDEO as well with a walk-through of all the motorcycles that were parked outside the Phoenix mall.

As you might have already realized, this is going to be one of those posts all about motorcycles. So proceed at your own risk here onwards. We all then road, careful of course making sure that we all rode in formation and maintained good manageable speeds. Not all superbikers are idiots ! We, atleast me and my pals riding the Kawasaki Ninja 650’s were completely kitted out with a proper riding suit and armor. We also make sure that we maintain suitable riding distance between each other and make sure we look out for each other while riding too just too make sure that no man gets left behind.

So finally we reached the Vithal Kamat hotel on the Pune Nagar highway. This is situated just after the second toll post on the highway just in case you are interested. And here are the pictures of all of us at the venue sharing a good time, a few laughs and a whole lot of bakwaas. This is part of the reason why I ride. I have met so many fantastic people through my motorcycles that I seriously have lost count.

the Pakodas we all gorged on !

a Pano shot of the initial set of riders who reached the meeting point

So a bike ride done, we rode back to Pune and continued with our Sunday as usual. But this was not before we took a group pic of almost everyone who had ridden down for the event. So here goes…

A big thanks to the Mumbai folks who rode down all the way from Mumbai as well truly making this ride EPIC !

A big thanks to the Greaseballs from Aurangabad who organized this ride and got all us rider blokes together. Here’s to many more times on the road again…
